"Damdei" means a desire for health, peace and progress. The College is run and nurtured with the missionary spirit and zeal.

The Damdei Christian College is affiliated to the Manipur Central University of Undergraduate (UG) and Post-Graduate (PG) Course both in Arts and Science stream.

The College has been included in the list of Colleges of India, University Grant Commission (UGC) Under section 2(f) & 12(B) of the Act, 1956.

The College is registered under Section 7 (1) & (2) of Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989 and numbered 639 of 2003. 

Close to the historic Second World War Monument at Kanglatongbi erected in remembrance of those who laid down their lives our day of peace to gain during the Second World War in the Imphal - Dimapur areas, stands Damdei Christian College heralding the dawn of new era of peace and progress. The Damdei Christian College is surrounded by the landscapes of unfading beauty and verdant woodland. It has also an invigorating climate conducive to health.

  Education is the basis of abundant growth in life. Planning for education is planning for life. Education is invariably the base of all human progress and development. It is a priceless gift of God to mankind. The Damdei Christian College believes that education eradicates self-conceit, haughtiness, superstition and ignorance which enslave men. It humiliates the human mind, widens vision, makes man benign and compassionate, and elevates him to a higher and nobler level of life. The Damdei Christian College has ventured to assume the task of helping, instructing, guiding and counseling the students to grow fully matured physically, intellectually and spiritually.

The higher education imparted by the College is to make them men of resourcefulness, capability and trustworthiness to do notable work for the glory of God.

Our vision is to provide an education that not only imparts knowledge but also instills a deep understanding of the invaluable nature of peace, the bedrock of human progress and justice. We aim to eliminate divisive elements like tribalism, racism, and ultra-nationalism from the minds of our students, guiding them towards a life of mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation of diverse views. We strive to help them think globally, analyze world events with sound judgment, and act locally in the pursuit of peace. We seek to infuse in them an awareness of the imperishable nature of human creation, intended for God’s eternal purpose and glory, not for mutual destruction. We aspire to educate them about the Earth, our shared home, where all tribes, languages, and nations can coexist peacefully, and the importance of preserving it. We aim to dispel ignorance, the root cause of conflicts and prejudices, and to instill a sense of responsibility in preserving peace. We endeavor to cultivate a love for the Earth and all its inhabitants, teaching them that truth, justice, and peace are intertwined. We believe that education is the key to understanding the mystery of nature and the power within it, and that the ultimate goal of learning is to know and glorify the Almighty Lord God. We acknowledge that the history of the world is marked by wars and revolutions, but we hold onto the hope of a peaceful, righteous eternal kingdom as promised in the Bible. This is our vision for a more peaceful, understanding, and harmonious world. 

The Tribal people living in the far-flung or remote villages in the interior Hill areas of Manipur are under poverty line. These poverty-stricken Tribal parents cannot afford to send their wards outside Manipur to various cities or elsewhere for higher education. The educational expenses in the cities they shall have to bear are beyond their means. It is therefore not advisable for them to seek admission for their wards in any colleges outside Manipur where proper hostel facilities are not available. College boys and girls who are studying by staying outside the college campus in the privately owned rented quarters are also not safe and secure, being exposed to all kinds of risks, harassment or maltreatment from any quarters by strange persons. In the cities where reliable and trustworthy guardians to look after their welfare are not found, the lives of students are unprotected and vulnerable to peril and wreckage of life, hence the need for the establishment of the Damdei Christian College. This college offers multiple courses of studies catering to the needs of the Tribal people and the people of backward classes. They can acquire higher education at par with those students belonging to highly advanced communities.
